If you have curly hair then I think we can both agree that curls have their abundance of bad hair days. Well, as a curly girl myself, I can help! Whether it's no frizz, fast length, or soft waves that you long for, THEY ARE ATTAINABLE! Now, before we begin, a small disclaimer: Every girl has different hair. SO, I can't make any promises as to how well these hacks will work on your specific hair, but I'll definitely do my best!
OK, first problem: UNCONTROLLABLE FRIZZ! We all know the struggle. Your makeup looks amazing, your outfit is working SO WELL, and then you look at your hair and sigh. You try to comfort yourself by saying how good everything else looks but as soon as you go out, you can't refrain from touching your hair every two seconds to see if it is actually as poofy as it feels. Yep. I've been there too. Alright. Let's move on from that horrible memory and find the solutions!
#1: Washing habits. Washing your hair may seem like an obvious no-brainer but it's not. Here goes, rules for washing: OK, first of all, DO NOT wash your hair every day. Technically, it's OK to wet your hair daily, but I would recommend just getting a shower cap if you shower daily. So you're probably thinking "Why can't I wash my hair daily?" Simple. Washing your hair strips it of its natural oils. Which, you might be saying "Ha. Definitely could use less oil in my hair, I'll just skip this rule." NOOOO. PLEASE. When you think of oil, you might think of greasy hair. Which is correct... Sometimes. But your hair has oil no matter whether or not it looks greasy. Not having enough oils causes your hair to be dry, and dryness means frizz. OK so this next washing habit is going to sound weird, but I use it and it works wonders! When you do wash your hair use only conditioner. Now hold up, don't go away yet! Wash your hair with shampoo once a week and then the rest JUST CONDITIONER. It will moisturize your hair really well, and hopefully keep frizz to the bare minimum. I know you may be thinking "That's just gross." But it's not. Conditioner has soap just like shampoo!! Shampoo just has ingredients that dry out your hair a lot more.
Now on to the next problem: FAST HAIR LENGTH! Am I the only one who feels like my straight haired friends can grow their hair down their back in like 2 years while it takes you 5 to get there?!?! Well, the reason is because our curls make it look like our hair is shorter. If you were to straighten your hair you would see the "actual" length of your hair. SO. How to grow that hair out?? Well, have I got a method for you. Now, this isn't going to grow your hair in 2 days or 1. Hair growing does take time. Anyone who says that they can grow your hair in 24 hours is lying. Sorry. But it's true. But this method can and will make your hair grow faster than it would naturally! I did not come up with this method, it is a very popular method known as the "inversion" method. I have tried this method (I'm actually still doing it, I love it so much!) and it has proven itself worthy of my hair. ;)
#1: Get your coconut and olive oil. You will have to estimate how much you will need for how long your hair is, but you will need half the amount of olive oil for however much coconut oil you put in.
#2: Mix the two together and heat the mixture in the microwave until the coconut oil is melted into liquid form.
#3: Begin working this into your roots, gradually working down the length of your hair.
#4: Put your head upside down and massage the oils into your scalp for exactly 5 minutes. Don't do it any longer or you might get a headache!
#5: Tie your hair up into a bun and tie a grocery bag on your head so you don't drip everywhere and leave it sitting for at least 2 hours or overnight.
#6: Finally, wash it out reeaaally well (definitely with shampoo this time) otherwise your hair will be very greasy.. :)
That's it!! Do this twice a week until your content with your hair length!
OK, finally, SOFT WAVES! This ones the easiest of all. Do the top two things regularly, and the soft touchable waves will come!!! And that's it!
Explore and enjoy!!
